Is a jeep wrangler a good first car?

No. They are too easy for an inexperienced driver to roll, and they use a lot of gas. Get some experience and maturity in a car before you trade up to a Wrangler.

Jeeps are crap. Get an import. You will save yourself many headaches if you don't buy a jeep.

It is a great first car. i got a 2000 Wrangler Sport for under $7K. i suggest looking on carmax.com or autotrader.com.
Wranglers are very dependable. fun in the summer (top down and doors off, going offroading) and great in the winter due to the 4WD.
They arent the greatest on gas mileage (18 ish mpg) but they are worth it. i go 2 weeks before i need to fill up.
They are tough, fun, and awesome looking!

Their pieces of crap, why dont you get some kind of Japanese car? Why not a Honda? You cant go wrong with Hondas and Hondas dont depreciate as fast as most other cars.
