Is a jeep a safe care for a 16 year old driver?

My boyfriends parents think its ok and I was wondering how dangerous they are.
 
If it has roll bars, I would think so. I bought one for my son when he was a teenager.
 
Jeeps have a short wheel base and sit high from the road and that makes them prong to rollovers when cornering. When I was in the army we had safety courses on jeeps. They are fun to drive, just don't forget what you are driving.
