I'm going to the mall later and in there is a japanese restaurant, I'll probably buy their chicken and rice with vegetables. Does that sound fattening to you?

It depends on how they made it. Did they deep fry the chicken or stir-fry it? If deep fried, it will be fatteing. If stir-fried, it would depend on the amount of oil they used. Typically, stir-fryed dishes are made with a small amount of oil.

All foods can make you fat. You gain weight when you eat more calories than your body burns. The number of calories your body burns depends on your weight, age, and activity level. Japanese foods are generally low in calories, so whatever you eat is probably fine, as long as you don't eat a lot of it. If you are really worried about, just eat the chicken and vegetables, and skip the rice.
