OK I hope this answers your question. I work at a salvage yard I have seen what has failed and what has survived on many Dodge Caravans. First the 3.0 V6 uses a timing belt, not a timing chain. The timing belts are prone to stretch and / or break. the 3.3 V6 is a good motor but the over drive transmission has proved to be weak and prone to fail if not serviced at 15,000 mile intervals. These are the more expensive parts to repair. Then there is the brains of the whole vehicle. The ECM as it is called is touchy because it is under the hood outside, not inside under the dash like most other vehicles of its type. Then there is the "body control module". This controls the window regulators, the rear air conditioning unit, the dash accessories, lights, and many other COMPONENTS of the vehicle, like the "pop up table". They sell like hot cakes from my salvage yard because they are so prone to failure and are expensive to replace.A new one is around $400.00 At my salvage yard we get around $100.00. for a used one with no warranty from a wrecked Caravan. Finally, just from my personal observations the transmission is just not capable of long term use pulling the heavy weight of the mini van. that is why they fail and the lack of service.
