Is a desktop computer better or a laptop?

My old computer is too old and crashing a lot so I need a new one.
I am a high school student and I'm wondering which one would be better.
 
You would probably like a laptop more now that they are not too expensive. You could take it with you. Just be sure to wash the Quim off your fingers before you type
