Is a Crown Victoria a good first car?

I'm currently looking at a few early-mid 90's Crown victorias and i'm considering it for my first car. specifically, i'm looking at 1993-95's because thats as low as i want to go yearwise and they're mostly under 1000$. Anyone owned any? opinions on them. any feedback is great, thank you
 
make sure you get the Police Package, the engines tend to hold up better over time and you'll have serious fun. expect to pay a lot for gas tho.
