Is a blood clot the size of the palm of your hand normal on ur period?

I usually have quarter size blood clots during my period and heavy bleeding but I started my period last night so I thought but instead I was only spotting then I continued spotting til about 2pm when it became a some what normal period for me but then I woke up from a nap at 5 to change out my feminine stuff and found a blood clot the size of my palm it was bloody but also grayish and white..... my boyfriend has been trying to get me pregnant could my body have aborted the embryo? What's going on? Please help =\
