is a beta fish going to be able to live by itself in a 10 gallon tank?

bettas can live in 1000gallon tanks.they like the space.and they are tropical fish and should have the water in the 70s.and they can live with other fish.

yes because most fish with it would be killed even other bettas

bettas will be fine its only 10g and bettas are hardy fish so they dont really need a heater

Yes, no it is not too much space, there is no such thing as too big of a tank.
Bettas are tropical you will need a heater set to 78-82 degrees F (26-28 C), you will also need a filter all fish need filtration.

It's only too cold if you don't heat it. Get a sponge filter and a little heater and he will be fine. My male is in a heated 40 gallon filtered tank. He's a happy boy.

Bettas are very often kept by them selves and i think he would enjoy all that space to himself! when you say "too cold of water" i dont really know what you mean, but he will need a heater.
Also that seems like a lot of space for one betta, so what about thinking of adding other fish that he gets on with? heres a few suggestions; pakistani loach, ghost shrimp, snails, bristlenose pleco, neon tetras, african DWARF frog(be sure if you aver get these that they are dwarf and not clawed, as they can grow big!) Just be sure that if you get other fish, make sure none nip fins or have long fins and brightly coloured(resemble the betta)
good luck :)
