Yes, a Buick is a very good car but only if the previous owner took care of the car and maintained it well.

Have a certified mechanic give the car a complete mechanical inspection and then make a decision. It's money well spent.
 
i need to find a car to replace mine that was wrecked in a accident. i found a 98 buick century on sale in the "for sale" ads in the newspaper for 1500/obo. is that a good car and if it is, is it a reliable car?
 
if its a good running car then talk the price down start lowest as you can and make sure its all checked out i am not a big fan of the engine they have in them century 3100 Buick are known to last long time if taken care of i have owned 5 Buicks one were a 3300 engine the rest were 3800 and my current car 2000 Buick regal gs 3800 supercharged and its powerful the 3800's can last easy over 200,000 miles i have seen some over 300,000 miles i would buy the century if i were you if in good shape and runs good i would offer them $1200 and flip it and sell it for 2000 obo which i done with 2 of the buicks i had...
 
see the miles on it. they go for about 200,000 miles until they get serious problems... btw buick are really nice and reliable cars
