i would not go for it. Ive know many people who have had taurus's and hated them. A few months ago, i was buying myself a used car and came across a 1997 taurus with 65K miles, about the same car as wa u said. N i test drove it for like 15 minutes n it seemed good and strong, and i thought, though its a ford, what can go wrong with such little mileage. I came back the next day and bought the car, i drove it off and about 5 minutes later, the coolant tank leaked out n the car died. I put a bottle of water in the coolant tank to get it back to the sellers house. He obviously knew that it had hat problem because he gave me back my money-no questions asked.
Long story short, american cars especially this one SUCK. Dont bother wasting your money on this car. I ended up buying a volvo wagon n it drives amazing-no problems! Good luck.
