Is a 1987 pontiac firebird worth my money?

Okay, here is the honest truth coming from me. I need a car that is inexpensive, but I want something that is at least cool...i know I should be happy with something that gets me from a to b but that's besides the point.

I have found a1987 firebird that is cheap and runs. Car fax report says It is within range. Are these high maintainance cars? Reliability?

If I can have something to get me back and forth that looks good, why not?

Thanks guys

It really depends on how many miles are on it, and how much your paying
just look at similar cars online on autotrader.com or craigslist.com and compare prices

That depends on if it is a V8 or a 6. The V8s are not cheap on gas, and insurance, but will demand higher collector prices.
The 6 cylinder was made for people who wanted a car to look like the Trans am, but didn't care for the performance. These are the ones that will be going cheap. Just have a mechanic check it out before you buy.

Not worth a lot of money now. But if you were to buy it and store it for about another 10 to 15 years, yes. By then it will start to appreciate in value.

However if it is a base model V6 it won't be worth much. It needs to be a V8 Formula, Trans AM, or GTA to really be worth something.

As for reliability, use your head. This is a 24 year old car. It would be very unrealistic to expect a 24 year old vehicle, domestic or foreign to be trouble free. A 24 year old car would not be my first choice for a daily driver. A car like this is more like a second car that is only taken out for pleasure on nice days.
