Is $500 a good price for a used 2006 Trek 1500 road bike?

I am looking to buy two of them from my neighbors for $500/bike. The bikes are used with about 700 miles each on them. There is also some scratch damage on the handles and such as if its dropped or minor crash. Other than that, they look like they are in great shape.
 
These bikes are about $1200 new right?

Perfect condition a year old I wouldn't pay more than half new price.

3 years old I'd pay $300 tops, if that.

Shop around and get the best deal for you.

I think that's a bit of a cheeky price.
