Yes 34 is pretty high in my opinion. If you really keen on the bike then take the pegs (4) off you don't need, cut the seat post, cut the bars, take brakes off if you want, switch to plastic pedals and you could MAYBE get under 30.
If you want a light bike, Kink makes fairly light bikes so I'd consider into those.
