Is 30k miles to many used miles for my first bike?

I'm about to buy a 2006 yamaha r6 for 3500 dollars. It has 30k miles on it. It needs back brakes & rotors and a front tire will be needed soon. Other than that it runs good. The reason so many miles is because he travels to and from work on daily bases. Also has clean title and a few upgrades. Would this be a good bike for me to start out with or should I buy a more expensive bike with lower mileage for my first bike? HELP
