is 174000 thousand miles to much for a 95 4door honda civic?

Is 60 years old too old for a person?

That's basically what you're asking.

All that is, is a number. It doesn't say how it was driven, how it was maintained, what kind of servicing was done, or anything else.

THE ONLY THING an odometer tells you is the total miles driven. It is 100% pointless to assume that it tells you anything else.

I have a 307,000 mile car that runs better than my dad's 60,000 mile car.

Because it's better maintained.

So ignore miles. Figure out what shape it's in, and make your own decision.

George apparently doesn't take care of his cars, so anything with high miles = going to break, to him.

Like Vip said, miles don't matter.

I've seen several cars near 500,000 miles. Drive like the day they were made.

Yes its probably near to colapse.Dont take it even for free.Repairing it will drive you broke

that is a lot of miles for any car. How much longer will it last? Depends on how well the previous owner cared for it. Oil changes every 3k miles or did he ever change it. Honda's are usually pretty solid but at 174k the wheels can fall off and you would have no room to complain. It may last 1k miles or it may last another 174k. If it is a cheap throw away then go for it. Otherwise I would be very careful.
