Is $1,600-$1,900 worth it to rebuild the transmission on my 1998 Ford Taurus?

You could likley buy another 98" Ford Taurus for that price. I'd say you need to shop around, maybe buy a transmission from a wrecking yard. Don't spend more on the parts for the car than the blue book value of the car itself. If it was an SHO or a Cosworth, I'd say go for it.

I have a 1998 Ford Taurus SE with 96,000 miles on it. I have just had my car looked because my car transmission blew and the shop I went to said it would cost $1,600-$1,900 to rebuild the transmission. The car is in great shape other than this major problem. I was wondering if this price is a bit high or a good deal. Thanks!

you can get a better used car for that money...that car is prone to transmission problems as seen here.

yes they should be able to keep this one more in the lower range on price though, but on average those will cost about 14-1600.00 bucks if they do the job right, good luck.
