irregular pleriod, TTC when to take a pregnancy test?

We are TTC since August. I have irregular periods, am having trouble tracking my ovulation. According to an ovulation calendar based on the date of my last period I was ovulating on the Dec 3. I have been having sex and today have mild cramping. could this be anything or is it too soon?

Also since i cant track accuraltey how long should I wait to take a test to see if i am pregnant? 2 weeks? 3 weeks or more?
