Iron Man

I can remember the rumours about the Iron Man movie while I was at school 10 years ago! Glad their finally getting round to it.
Captain America should be good too.

Hulk 2? - no thanks, the first one is that bad its put me off big time.

Robert Downey Jr has been talking about his casting as Iron Man:

"Robert Downey Jr has been spruiking "Iron Man" to Coming Soon :

"The suit for 'Iron Man' is so complex and does so much stuff that except for once or twice or from the chest up, I'm not required to do all that much," Downey Jr. told the site when asked if he'd been fitted for the armor yet. "What I will do is a lot of motion capture so that the movement isn't just some random stunt guy. A lot of time I look at CGI and I'm like 'What's the reference for this? This looks like a cartoon reference not a person." So I said I want to do all the motion capture work, which is like eight months after finishing shooting, but as much as it as I can do, I will."

"I went after it like a greyhound after a rabbit," he said when asked whether Director Jon Favreau approached him or whether he went after the part. "I loved Marvel and 'Iron Man' to me is the gooRAB. To tell you the God's honest truth, I'd thrown them all away for Sgt. Rock, because I really grew up on Hogan's Heroes, Sgt. Rock. I'm still addicted to the History Channel and the Military Channel is my thing, but Tony's the best because I could never be Sgt. Rock. He's a little bigger and more butch and has a cigar, I don't see it. Tony's a perfect fit for me, and if I was ever going to do this type of thing, I thought, you know, like early '40's. Great, because when you hang up your 'macho hat' and start directing or doing other stuff, it's not an embarrassment to be doing this in your late '40s still if we wind up doing three of them."

Haven't checked the Iron Man thread out in ages. But Robert Downey Jnr is inspired casting to play the 'alcoholic man on edge of a nervous break down' that Tony Stark is (or at least, I think he was, the last time I read the comic - which is some time ago).

Having Gwynny P as the love interest could be interesting. She's hot when she's made up properly. As long as she doesn't take herself too seriously, it could be cool.

Here is an update on Iron Man that was on Superherohype:

"Iron Man director Jon Favreau has posted an update on the Iron Man Movie Group:

I'm exhausted. I could never have imagined how overwhelming of an experience a movie like this is. I could not be happier with the way the movie is turning out or the reactions we are getting to both the official and unofficial images that are floating out there in cyberspace.

I have been relatively quiet for two main reasons. First, I feel like the General of a huge military campaign. I have no life other than Ironman. Between the script, sets, effects, shooting and editing, I am completely monopolized.

The second reason is, you IM fans are like criminal profilers. You take a few official statements and images, a couple of off the cuff remarks from press junkets and red carpets, and some deftly gathered surveillence footage and are able to take some very uncanny stabs at what the movie will be. The movie is a year away. If I don't keep a few tricks up my sleeve, I can't knock you on your ass in 2008. At the rate you're going, you'll have everything figured out by then. I don't mean to be evasive, but it's my job. I've got to lay low.

(At least until Comicon.)

Iron Man hits theaters on May 2, 2008."

It looks like there maybe a cameo in Iron Man according to Superherohype:

"Ain't It Cool News is reporting that 1408 star Samuel L. Jackson will be shooting scenes as iconic super spy Nick Fury on the set of Iron Man today. It doesn't say how big his role is, but we would assume it's a cameo of sorts.

What is also interesting, is that Nick Fury was one of the films Marvel Studios announced as one of the projects for its new independent film slate. The movie, based on the superhero with military roots, has screenwriter Andrew Marlowe attached. Will Jackson's role be expanded into a full movie? We'll have to wait and see.

Iron Man, directed by Jon Favreau and starring Robert Downey Jr., Terrence Howard, Gwyneth Paltrow and Jeff Bridges, opens May 2, 2008."

I can't wait for it!!! Only a month to go really. Robert Downey Jr is the best piece of castin' since Kelsey Grammer as beast.

Also, whats the story with Iron Man appearing in the hulk, is that still going ahead?

Anyway, heaRAB up to the Starkites in ireland! Freebie advance screening of the film on April 30th at movies.ie: http://www.movies.ie/html/article.aspx?articleid=2155

I watched this last night and thought it was really good! Very well written and Downey Jnr is excellent in it. Had the DVD for a while but didn't really feelo the need to watch it but I'm glad I did now.
