Iron Man 2

Well put.

If the whole film had been one long action sequence like Transformers 2, everybody would have been complaining that it got boring because of the constant action scenes and lack of plot. I'm glad that it focused more on Tony rather than constant robotic battle scenes, the "talky" mid section all added to the story imo.

It's funny really, the second an industry film reviewer writes a positive review they get accused of being paid off. Is it too hard to believe that someone can enjoy the film and have a differing opinion of it to other people?

I loved it and thought it was just as good as IM1, have i been paid off by the studio? Of course not.

Went to see this at the IMAX at Glasgow Science Centre last night - what an utter let-down. I loved the first Iron Man film, as it came at the superhero genre from another direction and RDJ's performance was simply superb.

This one though was an uneven, dialogue heavy mess. I'm not a philistine who expects the even film to be constant explosions a la Transformers. However, when you go you to see a film called Iron Man, you do expect to see, well, Iron Man. However, it took them an age to get Stark into the Iron Man suit, and even then, it was for a scene that last four minutes max. Then there was barely anything until the end of the film, bar the scene in the house.

They would have been better showing us at the beginning how exactly Tony Stark has

Just been to watch this and whilst it isnt as good as the first ironman film I thought it was really good. Yes the storyline is a bit naff but its still very enjoyable with some great action scenes, humour and fast cars. Mickey rourke is a much, much better bad guy than jeff bridges was in the first and the monaco grand prix scene is worth the ticket price alone. Sam rockwell plays a brilliant part as does scarlett johansson. The only problem with the film is that theres is about a 20 minute lull in the middle where you are willing it to speed up a bit. But overall a great film! Empty your piggy bank and go get large popcorn & coke and enjoy a night at the movies!

Saw it yesterday. It was pretty poor, but to be honest, I hadn't expected much from it after watching the trailers. They just didn't get me excited for the film at all.

The film is just a bit of mess really. There is too much going on, story-wise and yet not enough going on, action-wise. On two of the rare occasions we actually see Iron Man, he is involved in cheesy scenes that would not look out of place in Schumacher's Batman films (I'm referring to his extrance to the expo and the house party scene).

Many scenes were overlong and just seemed to go nowhere, the pacing was severely lacking throughout. It didn't help that I didn't find RDJ particularly funny in this one, just smug and unlikeable. His bickering with Pepper was just tedious. Mickey Rourke was alright but unfortunately got too little screentime and a far too flimsy motive for going after Stark. Scarlet Johansson added nothing to the film (except eye candy) and Samuel L. Jackson was basically there to plug the upcoming Avengers film - again.

And someone really should tell Jon Favreau to stay behind the camera.

I thought it was more Pocahontas + expensive CGI?

Yup.

I loved the first Iron Man, & I'm looking forward to no.2, whatever the reviews may say.

Saw this yesterday. I enjoyed it but agree could have been far better - the first one was far far better.

The things that ruined it for me was mainly Gwyneth - thought she was awful, very wooden. The film dragged as well, and I would have liked to have seen a villian who actually had a fight throughout the whole film - not just 2 quick scenes like we had.

Any person who works on a film-related website gets freebies - set visits, interviews and the like. That doesn't however mean he gets 'paid' to write positive reviews. Unless you've got evidence it's just rumours.

Heck, if someone asked me to come along to see Iron Man 2 being made i wouldn't turn them down! That doesn't mean i would give it a misleading glowing review if the film isn't upto standard.

Saw the movie today, not bad but not a patch on the first one, and for some reason Jon Favreau getting in on the action really annoyed me.
Maybe instead of working out where he could insert himself in the movie he should have focused on giving us a worthy sequel.

While I'm on a rant, it seems the 12A rating doesn't put parents off bringing really young kiRAB to see the movie. I had a young boy with his dad sitting 1 seat away from me couldn't of been more than 5 years old. He was clearly bored throughout and only stopped jumping about and talking during the brief action sequences.
Another guy bought a toddler and a younger child in a pushchair. They sat on he front row where the dad had to keep getting up to take the youngest outside as he/she kept crying during the noisy scenes.

Rant over:o

I've never been to Harry's site and have no interest in doing so. It's a total mystery how anybody gets so much devotion that people are desperate to find out what they think of a film, album, TV show or anything. Regardless of whether he does or doesn't take freebies, it's just one review or person's opinion.
I can't think of any reviewer that can influence my decision in any way at all. If Kermode says dont see this film because...... and I fancy seeing it I will. If Ross says watching this will give you enlightenment and a better quality of life and I don't fancy it I wont watch it. I couldn't give a monkeys how many stars or marks out of 10 a film gets. I've no interest in how many awarRAB a film or actor gets.
I have a brain and I use it. This allows me to have the ability of independant thought.

Just got back from seeing it, I was bored stiff not much happens in it, there's loaRAB and i mean loaRAB of talking there are far too many characters 1/10 shame it looked promising

Saw this on friday and was A LOT disappointed. I was was excited to see it after the first one but was completely let down by the lack of dialogue, chemistry and to be completely honest...the special effects.
I watched it and almost felt like Iron Man had taken about 15 steps back it was crazy and also...what was with Rhodey...sorry he just did not work for me.

I think what was really wrong with this film...too many characters and big names thrown about for the story to actually work. Definately will not be adding this to my dvd collection.

The best thing about Iron Man is RDjr himself. He is absolutely hilarious and i think the movie wouldnt of been as good without him.

think i may just watch it now to nurse my hangover :D:D

cant wait to see the sequal!
