ipod touch flashing screen?

My iPod touch just recently stopped working, I went to go turn it on and it wouldnt turn on so i figured it was dead so i plugged it in and it just started flashing though multiple colored screens such as black and gray. when i hold the "hold" button and home menu button for more then 10 seconds the apple sign appears but then fades away with lines and what not.

there IS slight water damage but it happened more then a year ago..

is there anything i can do to fix it?
