iPod Touch backing up time too long?

i updated my iPod firmware to 3.1.2 and switched to iTunes 9 (not 9.1) and every time i want to sync my iPod it takes like 10 minutes to back it up. when i had 3.0 it was like a few seconds ....
what should i do? i don't wanna downgrade :(
(ps i know 3.1.3 is the latest but i don't want that now)
