iPod 4g syncs, but won't turn on!?

I have an iPod 4th generation, 40gb who's screen recently got smashed. I bought a new screen from eBay, and fitted it. Since then, the iPod won't respond at all to any input. I turn hold on and off, press all the buttons, and tried resetting it, but it won't do anything. The screen also doesn't show anything or light up. I can plug it into the computer, which will recognise the iPod as usual, and even lets me sync it, but the iPod still displays nothing and doesn't respond to the buttons being pressed. I've fully restored it using the computer, but still nothing.

When plugged into a computer, or charger, the hard drive spins up, and as I'm able to sync it, I know the hard drive is fine.

So to summarise, my iPod spins up when plugged in, but doesn't ever display anything and doesn't ever respond to button presses. It also doesn't make any noises through headphones.

How can I get it working again, because I really love this iPod and don't want a new one!
