IPOD 3G OR 4G! HELP !!?

ok so my dad siad i could get a ipod 8g 3 generation this saturday and when i was on the web it appeares that apple is going to release ipod touch 4 generation around the next few months and i want to get a ipod touch and what should i do wiat for it or get it and oh yeah my dad is going to buy the ipod touch for my early b-day present even thought my b-day is in october 28 lol but what should i do buy the 4g or 3g i need your opinion and
