iphone vs. new pda/smartphones

I was just offered a free iphone, but I'm not sure it's worth it. Could sell it instead. I've been waiting for the i760 as i'm with verizon. probably would cost me $150 to get out of the contract, no huge deal. ATT has my neighborhood listed as "good" on the map, which seems like it's not so great...

their definition of good:
GOOD: The areas shown in the medium orange should be sufficient for on-street or in-the-open coverage, most in-vehicle coverage and possibly some in-building coverage. This AT&T owned network provides GSM, GPRS, and EDGE service.

Seems like that should be a show stopper right there, but how bad could it be?

Here's my wish list (in order of importance)

-Good phone
-Pocketable
-good organizer (calendar, to do list, ms office)
-wifi
-web
-ability to download and listen to podcasts
-ability to store other music (1-2 gigs is enough), i assume i can do this w/a mini sd card on other phones, right?

Any tips appreciate! The iphone is more pocketable and extremely slick, but I feel that may be it's only advantage?

Consider the Nokia N75. You say MS Office, so I don't know if you're a MAC or PC user. The N75 will give you better volume and audio quality than just about anything else (including the iPhone and Pearl...I've tried the Pearl and iPhone audio problems are well known). The N75's RF and BT performance is great, it has stereo speakers and can stream podcasts to a BT headset (the iPhone cannot). The N75 is more pocketable because it folds and you don't have to worry about scratching the screen. Nokia supports iSync for your Address Book and iCal and Nokia also supports the N75 as an object in iTunes on the MAC for syncing podcast, tunes and video. You can install Oprea for web browsing and it has a miniSD slot that supports 2 Gigs...it shows up as a D: drive when you browse to it through bluetooth on a MAC.
No Wi-Fi on the N75, but it does have an FM radio.
If you do get an N75 I suggest you try out this theme on it's killer display...

I like the N75 mainly because it sounds like a land line just about everywhere I go and when I want to call someone I pull the phone out, press the fast forward button on the front of it or on my BT headset and say a name to have it initiate a call.
