I take no credit for this solution.

MAKE SURE YOU FOLLOW THE STEPS CAREFUL, case sensitive commands.

When you have NO SERVICE and u have a succesfully unlock follow this:

For request of the people download link: RapidShare: 1-CLICK Web hosting - Easy Filehosting

Be careful, file 3.12 is for firmware 1.0.0 and 3.14 for firmware 1.0.1 and 1.0.2
u need to use the file who correspond to your firmware.

1. First unload commcenter with this command
launchctl unload -w /System/Library/LaunchDaemons/com.apple.CommCenter.plist

2. Enter to minicom and type
AT+CLCK="PN",0,"00000000"
it say error.... is OK!!

3. Type AT+CLCK="PN",2 it say 0, (this show u have unlocked iphone)

4. Run bbupdater -v

5. Upload to the baseband this file ICE03.14.08_G.eep using this command
bbupdater -e ICE03.14.08_G.eep

6. Restart the iphone and load the commcenter with this command
launchctl load -w /System/Library/LaunchDaemons/com.apple.CommCenter.plist

7. Enjoy your unbricked iphone!!!... and unlocked of course!

Orion007 Pd: You get the .eep file from the apple 1.0.2 full restore image

pd2: if u have this error

Error: Baseband bootloader is too old; update to 1.8 or later and try again

follow this step:
bbupdater -f ICE03.14.08_G.fls (it locks again the iphone)
restore....
when u have the screen activation with the world back and it say incorrect sim but u have the at&t sim dont worry, activate it and do all the steps for unlock it again...

When u have it unlocked
follow the guide unbricked iphone

IF U DONT HAVE THIS ERROR DONT UPLOAD THE FLS BECAUSE IT LOCK THE IPHONE AGAIN.

And ppl remember LOAD THE COMMCENTER if u dont do it u NEVER have signal even is u reboot the iphone u need to load because it dont load automatically.

THANKS TO THE DEV TEAM, GEOHOT, ORION007 AND ALL THE PEOPLE IN UNDERNET #IPHONE.UNLOCK

Other solutions aswell, one of them might work:

Below is a summary of all the suggestions from the many comments on the forum and from several sites around the web.
First, try a complete reboot of the iPhone. Hold down the Sleep/wake button at the top right of the phone and the round Home button below the screen on the front of the phone at the same time, until the screen goes black and an Apple logo appears. At this point you can release the buttons and wait for it to finish rebooting.Try switching Airplane mode on and off.Disable 3G. Sometimes the iPhone is not fast enough in switching between 3G and 2G.Dock the phone or attach a USB cable (attached to nothing on the other side)Charge the phone fully, using the wall adapter.Reset Network Settings.Important: The following fix will lose any wifi settings and passwords you have set up. You may want to note them before going forward.Go to Settings: General: ResetClick Reset Network SettingsEnter your passcode if you have created oneClick the red button: Reset Network SettingsThe iPhone will take a minute to shut down then it will reboot.
Re-seat your SIM card. Insert the end of a paperclip into the hole on the SIM tray (look for a tiny hole in the long, narrow rectangular metal shield in the center of the top edge of your iphone. NOT the headphone jack - it is a much smaller hole.)Press it in until the SIM tray pops out. This is sort of the way we used to eject jammed CD trays - push a paper clip into the eject hole.Remove and replace the SIM back into the tray.Push the tray back in.
Attach a small piece of Scotch tape to the outer side of the SIM card (the side withoug contacts). This put just enough pressure on the contacts to increase signal strength for some people. Restore your iPhone using the latest version of iTunes. Other possible fixes (untested, try these at your own risk!):

Use old SIM cardSome people have had luck with putting the old SIM card from their old iPhone into their new 3G phone.

Open the iPhone, find the 3 points where the antenna wires connect and press the connection points with the point of a tiny jeweler's screwdriver to create a dimple or hole (I have NO idea what this is supposed to accomplish) then put folded aluminum foil pieces over them.

Hi, Please forgive me for my inexperience. But can someone better explain how to carry out these steps? I have a 16GB 3G with ios 4 baseband 05.13.04 jailbroken and unlocked but with "no service". I really need a way to get service for my phone. Thank you to anyone that can help!!!

if i want to try the first suggestion which one of the file i should use with 3gs firmware 3.1.3 5.13.4 ??

The given solution looks like for first version of iPhone than the later like 3G and 3Gs since firmware of the newer devices can not be 1.0.0, 1.0.1 and 1.0.2 and I feel you can not run bbupdater on these devices as well. Can somebody throw some more light on these instructions, please.
