iPhone picture quality

Random pictures off my iPhone. These have been run through a sharpening filter in Photoshop and resized, so they hardly count as "straight off the camera," but I will say that the camera on the iPhone has impressed me. Especially given that I did not have a camera on my old phone, it is cool to be able to grab a pic of whatever I am looking at, wherever, and then be able to massage it into something OK. It beats lugging around the full set of Canon gear.

As far as cameras on phones go, I am sure there is a lot better out there.
 
It really comes down to the light condition/availability as stated, and being able to hold the camera still. Then it's just a sharpen and a resize - voila, OK pics.

I also tried using Unsharp Mask at 25% with the radius set to .3 after resizing, but the pic became too grainy for me:
