iphone no service help!!1?

i recently bought an iphone from a friend and evrything seems to work apart from the main thing,,, i cant get a signal and cant make calls or sent texts it was previousley on o2 and im trying to use it now on o2 and it still wont work ive even tried my uncles sim who also has an iphone and it still wont get a signal, any help please.....
