Fantastic news today from the Electronic Frontier Foundation (EFF). After a lot of hard work and mountains of paperwork, jailbreaking your iPhone is now explicitly a permitted fair use under the DMCA!The first of EFF

I wonder how this decision (new law) will affect Apples warranty process? Since it is legal to do, don't they have to warranty their phones now even if they have been jail broken?

actually the only unlock iphone which is going to be under warranty is the ones that are factory unlock.....once you go any other rout to unlock then you void the warranty....and i think that is soo clear

well i dont know about this but i once bricked my iphone trying to jailbreak it i took it to apple store and was giving a new phone as it still under warranty ...
i guess am just lucky cos the genius guy tried trouble shooting but the phone wont give him any feedbk only way he could check if am still under warranty was checking the serial on the sim holder ........

Well...It was clear till they said adding software to it to unlock or jail break was not illegal anymore. Before it was illegal so they didn't have to warranty it. Now that it is legal, I would think that even a jail broken phone would still be under warranty. Before...You were doing something wrong to the phone to break the warranty....Now (according to the law)....Your not. Not so clear anymore. At least to me anyway.
