I am in a similar situation, bought a Iphone, german Tmobile, but no sim, ive ordered a "Onesim" which apparently does the trick to replace my old 1... let me know how you get on, this new unlock works on axtivated phones i think...

after jailbreak besure to click on a complete upgrade on cydia...after the essential.....only then will the ultrasn0w repo function well.

plus you need to continue trying to install ultrasn0w boot device and open cydia again...did it 4 times before it picked.
