iPhone best ever???

well i have seen and used alot of cell phones, and in my opinion iPhone is the best phone that has even been made so far...

whats your opinion about this???

Is there any other phone better than the Apple iPhone?

I cherish my iPhone, but "best ever" is a phrase that I'm hesitant to use even with very good phones.

The iPhone is fast and very intuitive. Huge app market, and arguably the best media player and web browser can be found on Apple's hardware.

But I will say there are some things Android does better. Multitasking is obviously one of them, but a less restricted app store and customization are all definite strong points Apple doesn't have, at least not yet. I can tell you right now that I would probably use a Milestone (Droid) or Nexus One in a heartbeat if the iPhone wasn't an option.

As for BlackBerries, Symbian phones and Windows Mobile... their only real redeeming qualities are their proprietary services, and I wouldn't say those are strong enough to overcome the drawbacks.

The n900 is the best phone ever. At least for me. It can do more than any other phone. Tell me you can do this with your iphone or android phone?

Run irssi, ssh in and irc?

Scp files to your device?

Create csr's on your device?

Crack wifi's with aircrack?

Only a few examples that show the n900 is real linux device with true shell and root access right out of the box. As far as normal things like tethering, flash, outlook syncing...out of the box also.

An iPhone can do IRC; I think it can SSH in (haven't had a need to). Android can almost certainly do both.

Don't think iPhones (Android maybe) can SCP or create CSRs, but I can tether out of the box; Canadian iPhones have tethering baked into their data plans and profiles, and Exchange support for contacts/calendars/mail is built-in, too. Cracking Wi-Fi is usually illegal.

What you've demonstrated so far is only that the N900 is the best for Linux nerds. I doubt your mom or Joe Casual User even knows what SSH is. What's "best" in my mind is a genuinely intuitive interface; responsive, well-made hardware; and apps that make your day-to-day life easier even if you aren't an IT admin. The N900 should be alright to use and fast, but Maemo doesn't exactly have a huge app library.

No, any phone can IRC. There are even java irc clients for dumbphones, not what I am talking about.

Ssh into your phone, start a native irssi on your phone, and irc through the phone.

What I demonstrated is that a n900 is a completely open linux shell. You have a root shell right out of the box, with access to all normal linux utilities and plenty more to add.

And your phone *should* be able to tether out of the box, randomly pick out a free phone from t-mobile and it can too. I don't think android can. You need a special rom.

Maemo has tons of apps. Anything that runs on linux will run on n900. In fact, it pretty much has full functionality out of the box. Full mozilla browser with flash, multitasking, threaded messaging, exchange/imap support, gps with maps, nice camera/video, and music/video/internet radio player. Its all you really need. But then you go into the download section and see all the free linux programs you love can be added to your phone. Its great.

I guess you're correct. If you're a linux nerd, or just a geek in general the n900 is the best. But if you are looking for something your mom or the average user would like, the iphone is best.

But I don't understand how you can say the iphone has the best browser? It doesn't even have flash. I suggest you check out the browsing experience on the n900.

Even the n900 gets mentioned in the iphones wrap up :)

SSH in to my phone? That's cool, but I don't need to get a secure remote connection to my phone. :)

Maemo is a mixed bag. Multitasking and Flash are great, but I consider a real phone app one which is designed for the platform I'm using, not one that shares the same code compiler! That means an optimized UI and an efficient use of resources -- sometimes you'll get those by happy coincidence, but still...

As for the browser: I honestly don't think people need Flash much now. You'll occasionally run into a site designed around it, but even then it's something that wasn't designed for a 3.5-inch touchscreen. You can't "mouse over" with your fingers! What makes me think the iPhone's browser is better is the basics: accuracy, speed, intuitive control. Multi-touch isn't unique anymore, but it's extremely responsive and precise on the iPhone.

I just wanna jump into this for a second ;)..
I dont have a iphone or even a n900 i used a iphone before but i just heard about the n900...
What i gotta say is iphone is pretty cool yeah lots of things to do BUT if you are someone with not that much money to spend then no iphone suks ***..You gotta pay for apps and well jail breaking is not for what you call those end users like your mom or someone..

As for the n900 from what i know you need simple monkey brain knowledge to google to know how to add packages for apps and some games... But once you know how to do that its like a full computer in hand while the iphone is limited to what they wanna make.. I mean common if you can sit their and get a snes emulator (that works 100%) and connect to your tv well what do you need a iphone with all those crappy touch games

Just had to say it and please dont try to out do what i said cuz i can out talk you in hardware and software homeboi

While I am careful in saying "best ever" as that is a very lofty title I will say that in my opinion it is the most well rounded device at the moment. From there, the things that the phone is capable of it does on par with any other phone on the market. I would have to add as others have noted though that if you have specific features/usage needs there could easily be better devices.
