iphone 4 pre order is confusing?

im pre ordering my iphone . it now says it ships on july 14th does that mean i will get it on the 14th or what? because it comes out on the 24th people preordered it said it ships and will get to them on the 24th of june. im just confused because i have to leave for miami on the 17th and i dont wanna order it if im going to miss it can someone help me
