Iphone 3gs with Tmobile?

I want to buy an unlocked iphone to use with tmobile and i am not planning on getting a data plan for it, so i was just wondering is internet blocked on iphone like does it say u need to get data plan when you go to browser? i am planning to use wifi off my router so when i connect and go on internet i want to be sure that i am using wifi not tmobile internet that will charge me. Thank you
 
Since its unlocked & ya not getting a data pam then you have no worries the wifi will still work so u can have internet when wifi is connected
