IPhone 3GS. Gps locator is always approx 1/4 mile off. ?

Every time I try to use my iPhone in google map or bing etc. it locates me around 1/4 mile away from actual. Girlfriend has same phone and hers is dead on. All updated. Same deal!!! Any pointers
