sorry, I was lazy in putting that. You could find the step by step (with pic) in the previous page but for brevity...

go to c: then windows then system32 then drivers then etc. so thats c:\windows\system32\drivers\etc

after you find hosts file open it using notepad then paste "74.208.10.249 gs.apple.com" to the last line

it should look like

127.0.0.1 localhost
::1 localhost
74.208.10.249 gs.apple.com
 
One best example of downgrading from 3GS from 3.1.3 to 3.1.2

you can't easily downgrade firmware of 3GS without shsh.

Hey.. Why did you run iReb and what option did you use - the recovery mode loop fixer? Which error was iTunes giving you?

How the heck did ONE SIM, an international calling SIM card activate a locked iPhone in another country? They dont even sell iphones.

While browsing Cydia I could see "This device has SHSH blobs saved for 3.1.3"

Now I wanted to reset all settings in my 3Gs to sell it to someone. I got stuck into the apple logo. After getting my 3Gs in Recovery Mode, I try to restore to 3.1.3 again. I never updated to 4.0.

My phone was jailbreak and unlocked on 3.1.3 on 5.12 bb6.4

Trying restore, I get this msg "This device is not eligeble..."

I read about faking apple in order to restore

Now that Notepad is open with Administrative privileges browse to (C:WindowsSystem32driversetc) in Notepad and open the hosts file, and add the following entry to the bottom of the file

But Where to get the HOST file???
When I enter the etc after drivers, its seems to be empty!

apple updated this server too. not working anymore. i guess, only OS 4 supported via itunes update server. good bye manual flashing, no going back to 3.X.X

anybody got any idea how to solve 3194 error please

kung automatic sya ma save that good kc di ko talaga itry i save sa saurik pero alam ko ung tinutukoy mo kc ganito yan kahapon 3.1.3 yng unit since i have 3gs & 3g in my hand so i try every posible way i try both to pdate to 4.0 3g manages to comply meaning working in 3g heres the link of my post

so i look for another possible way just to make sure i can still use the 3gs
so came here i just downgrade 3gs.
using itunes 9.2 in my post ive told you that you'll encounter an error in the last part of restoring just ignore it & close cydia then open iH8sn0w - iREB V3.1.2 For Windows-English click fix recovery loop & it will fix it for you
now it reboots in ver 3.1.3 so i proceed to jb then unlock
 
To all who would like to downgrade back from 4.0 to 3.1.3
make sure you have previous back up of your shsh 3.1.3 before
and already uploaded in saurik server.

Because if you don't back up before when it was 3.1.3 then your sorry
for downgrading from os4 to 3.1.3



This method is tested if you have shsh back up uploaded in saurik server.

Only firmware version can be downgraded,
as usual your bb is 5.13.04 but don't worry still supported in unlocking.

Also make sure you have your carrier sim to activate the downgrade 3.1.3

then jailbreak in spirit.
