Maybe the reason why you cant downgrade from new boot is because your phone came out with the new boot?

My 3gs is almost a year so I went through all the versions before 4.0.

I personally upgraded to 4.0 and painstakingly downgraded to 3.1.3 through the steps provided.

Again, please post the steps you made so I can help you downgrade your firmware

This thread is for those who where having problem with their iphone 3gs updated to 4.0 heres a better solution

even you were in 4.0 ver you could still downgrade it to 3.1.3 after you've manage to downgrade it you can now unlock it usings this tools


iTunes 9.2
orig 3.1.3 ipsw
ireb v3.1

you will now encounter error in itunes just ignore it & close itune then open ireb





now jailbreak it using spirit







Then Unlock






You are now running in version 3.1.3 w/ Modem firmware 5.13

Thats the lease we can do for now

No problem in baseband unlocking bro coz from 4-5.13.04 is supported by unlocking.

But in downgrading afaik you must have shsh blobs of previous 3.1.3 in saurik server before you can downgrade from is 4 to 3.1.3.

To check if you have shsh blobs in saurik server open cydia bro,
then look from the top after refreshing below cydia name.
 
for those having problem w/ my proceedure post you could also try jailbreaking your 3gs 4.0 via snowbreeze since it was release today

I guess the iphone depends on which IP you are using. this is because I tried to downgrade 3 iphone 3gs. one works with the first ip. one works with the second. while the last one won't work with either.
