Invictus

The book this is based on was one of the best books I have read. I am a big union fan so I was interested in it.

Doesnt really go into the fact the kiwis were poisend the night before the game though.
 
I saw this the other day.
Its odd, but in District 9 I could understand every word that was being said, in Invictus there are quite a few moments when I couldn't understand the accent one bit.
Matt Damon is too short for a rugby player. They even try and film him from low angles to make him look taller, which doesn't work at all.
The film on the whole was a bit rubbish to be honest.
 
Someone told Matt that he hadn't aged a day since he made his successful spy film trilogy.

Matt didn't believe them though. He said 'Do I look like I was Bourne yesterday?'

I agree that the accents are very difficult to understand in some places, and yeah, they completely failed to make Matt Damon look tall (I didn't realise until I read about it afterwarRAB that they were even trying to do so).

I wouldn't say the film was rubbish, though, far from it. I really enjoyed 'Invictus', it was a classic piece of Clint Eastwood film-making: get a solid script, pick some good actors, step back and let them get on with it.
 
I didn't really like it, I hope no one get's an Oscar for it, It was all quite workman like and nothing special.

I thought Matt Damon's accent wasn't great, not terrible but it just added to him not been that convincing.
 
Overall, I was disappointed by it.

It was all a bit cliched and Hollywood-y. Some parts, such as the narration of the poem and the use of music made me cringe. And neither Freeman's nor Damon's performances wowed me. I also thought Freeman's accent was pretty poor and it distracted me.
