"InuYasha: The Final Act" Talkback (Spoilers)

Damn. I can't believe how sloppy Viz is being with all this. Inuyasha is one of their biggest shows so how can they have forgotten the subtitles? Hopefully they realized the mistake and fix in the next few hours.

Thanks. Fixed the first link of the topic.

Totosai's back! Whoo! It's so great to hear Joji Yanami playing him again. If you close your eyes, it's like Kaio-sama's right there! Sango rubbing Miroku's bum for once was a nice twist on the joke, even if it was for different reasons. I also like how nobody cared about Shippo being knocked out on the ground. Kind of funny that they just leave him laying in the middle of the forest.

Also loving how Kirara appears in some shots but not others. Gotta love that attention to detail, animators.

Dang this episode moved flippin' fast. You don't squeeze three developed plots into 20 minutes. The Kitsune Inn story alone has enough material for a full episode. I actually know what happens in the manga version of this story for once, and I finally get what everybody means when they say the pace is exhausting. I sneezed and missed the entire part where Shippo used his Spinning Top on InuYasha and got promoted.

I'm glad they managed to include the part where Kagome and the others are so used to the Kitsune magic that they're just completely ignoring it. I always got a kick out of it when Kogome was telling one of them to "burn brighter" just so she could read her book. Also glad they included the part where InuYasha's a moron and pulls a string that clearly says "don't pull." Always gets a smile from me.

Okay, I know that clips from the Mujina story were in last week's preview, but it never registered in my head until I saw the episode. They squeezed that in too?! What the heck was the point of that? So not only do we miss the conclusion to the Kitsune Inn story, but they also try to adapt an entirely different Shippo-related tale into less than five minutes? The way they did this episode, it makes it seem like the story with Mujina and the story with the Inn are related, but they took place almost 150 chapters apart in the manga. They weren't connected at all. What a horrible, horrible adaption. I'm extremely disappointed. That last five minutes should have been spent wrapping up the Kitsune Inn plot, not tossing it aside abruptly.

They could have made the episode work had they not thrown in the Mujina story (Which was horribly butchered, by the way. We only saw the conclusion. There was an entire story that we missed, including Shippo fighting, Shippo getting kidnapped, and more time for Shippo to start trusting Mujina.). I don't see why we needed the scenes with Kagome's home life; it just wasted precious airtime. Why not just put in a throwaway line where Kagome tells the audience that she's getting ready for exams instead of making a whole mini-episode for it in the first five minutes? There were more important manga scenes that needed to be retained.

Just... man, I'm beyond disappointed. Shippo's final hurrah (which was a very entertaining standalone story, to be honest), and it was edited and Frankensteined to pieces. Who chooses to adapt a story from the manga and then not even animate the conclusion? And then to throw in the final five minutes of an entirely different story instead? What were they thinking? I can't believe I actually miss the slow pacing of the first series...

Yeah, that was kind of ridiculous. They cut out stuff that was actually important and left in annoying things like Kagome at school. Was all that really necessary?

Ehhhhh, I wouldn't go that far yet.

I finally saw last week's episode. Even though I know it happened in the manga all the Shippo stuff still feels like filler. There is nothing wrong with humor but they only have 26 episodes so I was hoping they would skip the fox demon exam entirely. The only scene that really made me chuckle was Sango feeling up Miroku. The Mujina battle was a little pointless if you know about what happens next. They could have omitted the battle without losing anything.

The only scenes I liked were the Sesshomaru scenes with him getting his new attack the Meidou Zangetsuha. It was great seeing and hearing Totosai again. Like always Rin and Jaken stole every scene they were in. Makes me wish that we could have gotten a Sesshomaru spinoff already. Sesshomaru would totally murder anyone that told him to sit.

Hopefully next week's episode will be better.

This week's episode the pace seemed to slow down a bit, but still faster than I am used to in other series. This was a good episode, InuYasha really put himself on the line in this one, he did most of the fighting, while the others just stayed back, though Kagome got to help a bit.

Gonna go with the wings growing out your back will happen first. Hope they do fix the subs though. It's cool to simulcast, but at least try to do it correctly. D:

Maybe it's just because I've gotten so used to this series being so fast, but this episode didn't seem as fast as the previous ones. InuYasha had some good fights in there.

It seems the purpose of corabining Moryomaru with the other demons early on is purely to to replace them with Moryomaru himself in story-related battles. Granted, it seems like they're corabining battles to fit in all the Koga-related sideplots.

The story is definitely going by fast, but it seems moreso because of the amount they're actually cramming in there. (Don't blink or you'll miss it!) Rather than cutting, they're shuffling and corabining the events and stories. It's not like Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire where it felt like 3/4 of the story ended up on the cutting-room floor.

I do kind of wish they'd slow down a teeny tiny bit, but I can't find myself disliking the show as it stanRAB either. I can't help but wonder how exactly this is going to be a 26-episode season... Unless they plan to slow down for some of the other stories later on, such as
Sesshomaru's trip to Hell, Death of Kikyo and Kagome's new bow, Kagome's powers getting sealed, the reforging of the Hiraikotsu, Sesshomaru vs. Inuyasha, etc....

Wow, come to think of it, they have a lot to cover. But I still can't help but wonder what they're going to concentrate on. There's a couple stories in there that I feel might get "shortened" even though they were fave parts of mine, but then again, I've been pleasantly surprised by other things this season. The parts I worry for are the more quiet, character centered ones, as they are always my favorites in any story. Guess it's just a "wait and see" deal.

I'm pretty sure Viz will be hearing way more crap about this than they can deal with, and they must already have the subbed version. It was a stupid mistake, but I doubt they just did this because they hate all of us.

Yeah, I'm sure it's not because they hate us, but this isn't some subbing group that has just gotten a hold of the files for the first time and is running around like chickens with their heaRAB cut off, wondering how to translate the script into their best engrish. And you can't tell me - well, in a manner that would have me believe you - that VIZ is just getting the ep today and is having to sub it quickly. They would have had to have had the script for some time because the ep would have had to have been in in the can for some time. Now, a dubbed version, I can certainly allow that it takes more time to try to match lips to verbalization to get one ep done, but really, a subbed version without the subs? That they have been bragging/advertising for months?

Remeraber kiRAB, do drugs. Hard, hard drugs. The future of the US highway/road system, as well as possibly uploading a subbed version of a legal broadcast, may one day need a brain addled/damaged mind to do the job to the same standarRAB we're accustomed to here...

Was a pretty nice start to the new Inuyasha series. I must admit to liking the original VAs over the English ones. That or maybe it's been so long since I've heard "INUYASHAAAA" "KAGOMMEEEEE" and what not. D: Great OP/ERAB though. Pretty fun. PINWHEELS.

Also (Spoiler)
Kagura ;;
