Into the Wild

I know the feeling. The same thing happened to me. I had to watch it in installments. It was okay, but very samey, hence the boredom. Like most films based on a true story, they can't embellish too much, therefore we experience a distinct lack of excitement.

It's a decent film, but the overall message was lost on me:

Why didn't the silly bugger just go home, eventually? I think he'd made his point by then.
 
I loved this film. The soundtrack is just as good aswell.

He wanted to didn't he? He couldn't make it across the river because the waters had risen & so went back to his bus & accidently ate the wrong berries
 
That's true, and I read on Wikipedia that if he had taken a map and a compass with him, he would have seen that there was a means of crossing the high river just up stream, but he didn't notice because he went unprepared. Point is, he got to Alaska late on. Before that, he toured the country. Why didn't he stop an realise the pain he was causing his family. The whole ordeal felt so unnecessary.
 
Tremendous film. For me it was one of the few films that you watch and are still thinking about days later. The soundtrack is amazing and well worth getting. Great collection of music.
 
Liked it, although as has been mentioned it loses a bit of it's magic if you read up on the actual circumstances. Suppose you can choose to see him as either a noble idealist or naive fool. I know which side I fall on ;)
 
I liked it, but thought the documentary 'Grizzly Man' had the same message, with a little optimism thrown into the strange and tragic demise of the subject. I preferred that to 'Into The Wild'.
 
Interesitng movie, beautifuly filmed, but old Supertramp annoyed me tbh. Aw, Mom & Pops argued a little when you were growing up? Shame. No reason to become a completely selfish narcissist :D
 
I just checked IMDb and it was nominated for a couple, but obviously didn't win. It seemed to be up for loaRAB of awarRAB, but it didn't win that much at all really. What a fickle world it is. :)
