Intl: are pin messages EMAIL or DATA?

~via BB (wap.rabroad.com)~My 2 cents - I just got back from Europe (specifically Austria, Hungary and Slovokia) and added the international email and international roaming to my T-mobile plan. Once I got over there I was unable to send any pin messages, but text, email, and voice all worked without any problem. Not sure if there was just no blackberry coverage there or what, but I tried unsuccessfully in all 3 countries to pin. As a side note, when roaming internationally, if someone calls your phone and it is on and it rings all the way to your Voicemail, it costs one minute of airtime even if you do not answer because the call is routed back to the US to reach your Voicemail. Cost me about $30 in missed calls. Good luck!

OK -- let me see if I can answer this. I'm not exactly sure what BIS entails, but my plan is: $20 US data unlimited, and then the $19.99 addon-- which, as quoted above, gives me "unlimited" international e-mail. There has been some question (from T-Mobile's end) as to whether PIN messages (and, hence, blackberry messenger) are included within that international plan, or whether, like the browser, they count as international data.

I assume they have some mechanism to differentiate, but I'm not sure exactly what that is. Any thoughts? Hope I answered questions...

No Additional Thoughts other that this. If TMO says no PINs while International Roaming, or they will incur additional data charges, I would be very careful about using them.

This is not true. T-mobile offers Unlimited Blackberry addon. It isn't expensive just $19.95 per month. It is unlimited Data.

Your Pin messages, browsing the internet, e-mails, downloads are all included in the price.

Text messages are not. (sms messages are not data, they are a different service) But you can add those on for around $5.00

I will ask a friend who just stopped working for T-mobile corporate office, now actually works for Cingular West division as a Black Berry tech. He should no the ins and outs of T-mobile. I will get back to you about that.

boomboom, this thread is not about the TMO BB addon, it is about adding the TMO INTERNATIONAL BB Data Roaming addon to that plan.

Yes -- I completely understand T-Mobile's domestic plan. To be clear: the question is about T-Mobile's INTERNATIONAL plan, and whether PIN messages are included...

I've just been on with someone from T-Mobile, and they say that they are not included. Their explanation was that while e-mail runs through the Blackberry service, PIN messages run through GPRS. Is that true?
