Intl: are pin messages EMAIL or DATA?

I've been on the phone with T-Mobile several times, and I get conflicting answers. Does the $19.99 add on for international email include PIN messages (and Blackberry Messenger) or are those messages considered data (browser, etc. which are NOT covered).

Any help would be appreciated.

Right -- I understand that they are not text; but some data (i.e. the web browser) are NOT included in the $19.99 fee. I'm wondering, in essence, if PIN messages are catalogued as "data" (which would not be included), or "email" (which would be).

Welcome to the Stacks Rbf, Stacey is correct!

BlackBerry Unlimited International E-mail

Make the world a little smaller. Send and receive unlimited e-mail while you travel for one low monthly fee. You must be using a carrier that provides GPRS Internet service to send or receive e-mail. Voice calls are billed at standard international rates.
$19.99 per month

Texting is not part of this.

OK -- I hear what you guys are saying, but T-Mobile only does free EMAIL -- not ALL data. Are PIN Messages counted as EMAIL or as other data? That's the question. T-mobile reps don't seem to know...

Welcome to rabroad rbf. I would say if TMO offers free email but not data then your pin messaging will not work. As long as you can send them they will be free.

The browser IS included, this is the plan I have. If you don't have your "browser" icon, you might try resending your service books

They offer free unlimited email, but data is billed additionally; hence, I CAN web browse, but at a price. I want to know if PIN messages are billed additionally or not...

I do have my browser icon. Just to clarify, I'm an American in London for 6 months. The intl data feature now only covers email (as someone copied and pasted above). The question is whether PIN messages are email or other data (billable).

~via BB (wap.rabroad.com)~wow. Wish I could help. But now I am wondering what the reg. Data plan covers? Next months bill should make the wife happy. I haven't stopped playing on this since I got it!data. Text. Emails. Web. You name it.

I am a pda tech for tmo. Pin to pin is a service that is free if you have ANY blackberry plan. In fact it is a really neat feature because if you are at an international location, you won't get charged for pin to pin (unlike with a text messagewhich is charge at a higher rate.) this is a big perk for blackberry, hope that helps! ~via BB (wap.rabroad.com)~

Let me try to restate this whole thread, so I can understand the Problem. rbf25, You have a TMO BIS Plan for $19.95 and have added the TMO Intenational EMail Roaming plan which also costs $19.99 for while you are temporarily overseas. You are asking if PINs are included in the International Data addon. Is all this correct?

I don't know how Tmo handles the international Data plans but assume that they can differentiate between email data and other data someway, Probabily by using the BIS email interface somehow. I don't think PIN messages go through the BIS email interface, so if this is the case, they may be able to charge you extra.

Hope this helps
Rcbjr.
