Internet Restrictions (School)

I realize that schools are trying to keep us from going onto really bad sites and things that would get them into trouble, but it's getting out of hand all the things that they block. When they blocked them, I used to be able to easily get around it, but since people spread the word of ways to get around it, the school finds out. I hate how people can't kep their mouths shut long enough for us to enjoy being able to go anywhere I want.

I used to get around these 'banned' sites by going through the start => run function and going into 'cmd'. I would then ping whichever site I felt like going on and get the IP number for that particular site instead of trying the DNS. That worked for many sites, but there were still many blocked, so I decided to try another way. I then went to using proxies. I would find one from friends or from my own 'personal' sources, and eventually it would get around and the school would ban it. However, because of all the idiots in my school, they have banned the ability to change the proxy entirely So, I for one really hate the people in my school and their stupidity.

This would be a good reason as to why my post count has gone down a lot recently. (I can only use this site in some places in the school)
 
:sad: :mad: :mad: :mfinger: :question: Our school blocks just about everything, and every time we tell someone about somthing to get around somehow it gets blocked almost the next day WTF it pisses me off that even GOOGLE IMAGES are blocked at my school.
 
download firefox onto the computer, and when it asks you to transfer files and bookmarks and shit click no, you should have reign over the system with that. what are they using to block you out? Bess,watchdog? reply
 
Couldn't there be a way to change the proxy via RegEdit/winipcfg? I have seen IE settings in my registry before, but I can't remember what ones.
 
If they're stupid enough to use local proxies on each computer, then yes. I'm talking about a server based proxy though, which is done transparently on the network. That's the more conventional method.

Actually, the only way I can figure that Firefox would negate the restrictions is an idiot admin who used group policy to restrict IE. Even then, if it's done right, simply using a different browser wouldn't do anything. Students shouldn't even have permissions to install software. :tard:

People, the best way around this problem is to KEEP YOUR MOUTH SHUT.

You're pissed because you find a way around the restrictions and then everyone blabs it to everyone else and the administration finds out. The one step you forgot to mention was where you blabbed it to someone in the first place. You are the first link in that chain.

This is a good life lesson: If you're going to break the rules it's best to not tell people you broke the rules.
 
No, I really don't tell anyone. People just find ways to figure it out and spread it like idiots. I didn't skip over any steps.
 
Rofl yeah its fun, one day our teacher comes in and says

"On your lunch breaks, you can't be in sites that isn't for some kind of school work", lots of sites is banned.

I'm banned to use computers, they deleted my account for chillin on a computer for 2 hours, they went in and checked... Forgot to delete last visited internet sites..

Our school is so dumb. They don't use proxies, all they use is a program called "Cstray" that sends each website that you go to and a screencap every 30 seconds to the Principal's computer. There are quite a few problems with this. One, the program can be turned off with a pssword, except that they forgot to set one, so any string of letters/numbers over six chracters long will work. Second, it sends the report as an e-mail, or in a e-mail type system, to the principle, so he gets ~2,000 a day. I personally can tell you he dosen't check them. Third, you can kill the program using the task manager, leaving you to cruse the intrnet, free of monitoring.
