Hello
First time poster in this forum, at this time I am a verizon customer and I am going to do my new every 2 upgrade, at this time I have a Moto Razr with the $5 mobile web service
I am looking at the new LG enV touch, the $5 service is no longer available only the $15
V-cast or pay by the usage.
To sum up what has been said, the phone is the limiting factor for your browsing experience and you do have access to e-mail (limited to certain accounts).

I do not really need a PDA phone but I do browse the internet and text on occasion.
Is the v-cast service worth it and has anyone compared it to the AT+T media net?

Mods Note: Made this post its own topic.

The $5 per month internet is no longer available because Verizon has went to a more "standard" type of internet service pricing. They decided to separate internet and minutes. Before, internet browsing used to take minutes unless you were on the V CAST V-Pack plan. You use to be FORCED to have the $5+airtime plan if you wanted to browse the internet at all.

Now, Verizon Wireless includes the internet free as part of all of their plans. Now instead, you pay $1.99 per megabyte (50-100 pages of mobile browsing). You now can access mobile web at any time. If you get the V CAST V-Pack, this waives the data fee of $1.99 per megabyte. Internet NO LONGER takes minutes.

Comparing it to AT&T is a difficult thing to do. First, you need to check the coverage. AT&T is said to be the fastest while Verizon is said to be the largest and with the fewest black outs. I can tell you that the AT&T 2G (non Broadband) internet network is the slowest internet available. Verizon's isn't all that faster when using 2G National Access, but it's faster than theirs. I have not tried the AT&T 3G service since it is not available in my area. AT&T has about 300 markets nationally with 3G. Verizon has 3G in nearly every market. The pricing is about the same. AT&T does some weird things. They bundle texting with internet and TV with internet and all this other stuff, so it won't be a direct translation. Pricing is below:

Verizon Wireless-
Pay as you go: $1.99 per megabyte

V CAST V-Pack: $15.00

  • Browse V CAST Videos (free)
  • Use Get it Now/Media center for free (charges per application download)
  • unlimited use of internet
Add unlimited messaging for $20 more.
Upgrade to V CAST Mobile TV which includes same features as above plus the V CAST Mobile TV service which is available in limited markets. It's $25 instead of $15.

AT&T-
Pay as you go: $0.01 per KB ($10.24 per megabyte, no I DIDN'T GO CRAZY, that's the real price)

Unlimited Messaging+Unlimited Data: $30
Unlimited Data (media net): $15

AT&T Mobile TV Plus: $30.00

  • Unlimited Access to Cingular Video (CV).
  • Unlimited live streaming Mobile TV. This is the same as Verizon's VCAST Mobile TV
  • Unlimited Mobile Web (media net)
AT&T doesn't offer anything in between that gives you the ability just to use the Cingular Video, like Verizon has for $15. They offer unlimited data for that price, but it doesn't include CV.

Thanks for the reply, I have very good signal for both carriers, with that additional information you provided I think I will stay with verizon and not get the v-pak.
I will check my bill in a month and if the charges are less than the $15 for the v-pak.
I only use the internet via the phone on occassion.

im happy they changhed their service plans.
i hate minutes.
