International phone- used mostly in US

I'm looking for the best plan. I'm mainly in the US, but do a lot of travel to Europe, Mexico, India, and the United Arab Emirates. Need around 2000 minutes per month, and have decent rates while calling out of the countries listed.

I was told by Cingular that if someone called me and I was overseas and I rejected the call, I would be charged for the time they left me a voicemail. Can anyone confirm this is true?

I'm currently with Nextel. Apparently it'll be $2.39 per minute calling out of those countries.

This post is a little all over the place... but any advice is welcome!

Thanks
Mike

That charge for Cingular sending it to voicemail is true. After all Cingular did have to send the call to you, thus they are using the network where you are roaming to leave you the VM.

But at Cingular you'll want to buy a QuadBand GSM phone like the SE W810i, W300i, Samsung Sync, LG CU500. That way you get optimal reception on both sides of the world.

Yeah that is QuadBand. Either T-Mobile or Cingular will do you good. You can activate phones on both carriers, see how they work in your neighborhood and cancel the one you don't like. The one you like you can port your number to if you want.
