this might be an stupid question but here i go..... i have an 8320 wifi enabled, i also have my personal wyreless network at home what it means that im paying to my internet provider, my question is, when i am on uma or wifi, with radio turned off, only using uma or wifi, can i make an international call? if yes.. how much is gonna be the charge? i dont paying any hot spot or wifi fee to tmobile.

I"m pretty sure you can make international calls and you would pay the same as if you where on the T-Mobile network. You would also use up airtime as you don't have hotspots activated.

I depends in the country. T-Mobile has the prices on their site.

have you looked into ja ja bb calls? last i looked it was a free voip thing where you sent the call via internet and the service routed the call as an incomming call back to you. s4bb.com if i remember correctly . i used it when i had nextel and had fee incoming calls and it worked free for sure . the only issue was the junk mails s3bb sent out regularly . its worht a look and could save some coin if your looking to make international calls

I believe this is the correct answer. As long as you're connected to a wi-fi spot I'm under the impression that it simply uses your minutes - that's it, regardless of where you are. Please post if you find out different.

That is definitely the case, Jblackfish.

Think of your wifi phone as using a home-town cell tower whenever you are connected. Calls are billed as if you were using the phone in your own home. Calls are part of your monthly minutes or unlimited plans.

It is an awesome $$$$ saving service for international road warriors.

These are all correct answers, but to make it clear. If you dial an international number while on UMA the charges are no different than dialing on the TMO network.

You can however, take your device overseas and call USA phone numbers at no additional charge while on a WiFi / UMA signal.

Ok guys, u mean if i make an international call ill be charged as a regular air time or a long distance or international air time, sorry for the missunderstanding!!!

There's a feature you can get with T-Mo called "HotSpot" calling. Last I checked it was $5 a month extra, but if you're on full UMA, then your calls are strictly going through the Wi-Fi connection and it does not come off of your minutes. Now whether this would also apply to international calls, I'm not sure, but the last time I asked a T-Mo rep about the UMA calling, I asked 3 times whether they were sure if I went full UMA that it would not come off of my minutes and she said yes.

ok to find out, i have maked an international call, 2 min only, according to tmobile it has to be allmost 3 doll, we'll se when bill comes to me i let u all know, my bill ends at the 21th so it will take a while be pattience

You saw GaryF's post above: Just so we'll know, what type call did you make?

- One from the US to another country?
- One from outside the US to inside the US? or
- One from outside the US to another country outside the US?

...and I assume you WERE using wi-fi for the call, right?

Thanks for the info - this is the type call that GaryF says will cost as though you've made the call from your carrier's (T-Mobile) network (unless you have some type of international call agreement in your plan.)

Please post back when you get the cost of the call.
