International Calling With Phone Card

I am pretty sure I know the answer to this, but:

If I call internationally, and I can get a phone card that is cheaper than T-Mobiles international rates, I can just use a phone card and only be charged minutes right if I call an 800 number, rather than getting the international charges...

That's what I am thinking, just want to make sure before all of a sudden I get like a $4584.23 cell phone bill one month.

I just didn't know if maybe the cellular companies somehow would catch on that you were calling an 800 number and using a calling card, which would be most beneficial to me since I come NO WHERE near to using all of my minutes a month, I have minutes to burn and can burn them on calling the 800 number rather than getting charged like $0.89/minute at the international rate and still burning minutes.

I would think you would be ok.

We use voip Vonage line which includes calls to the UK in the regular monthly price. Have in-laws across the big blue.

As for calling cards. This what I have noticed with them. If you call from a land line you don't get penalized as if you did when calling using your cell phone. I am not sure what the rate is but you lose more time from your calling card when calling using a cell phone as to calling from a land line.

Some cards say they don't charge you a connection fee but I believe this connection is applied when using those type of cards with your bb. And for those that do have a connection fee I am not sure but there is some sort of extra charge on top of the connection fee.

if someone here knows a little more than this or can share a little more light on the topic please feel free to let us know.

This is how it works.....

T-Mobile doesn't want you to have a HUGE bill.....We encourage using calling cards and international sim cards to save money

Unlike the other providers we are not out to screw everyone....we care about our customers....Thats why we have WON the J.D. Powers and Associates award for #1 Customer Service 4 times in a row.

As a matter of fact....everytime I get a call about international calling I tell customers to get a calling card or if they are going overseas then I unlock their phone and tell them to buy an international sim card and use that. And I recommend a website http://www.gsmworld.com

You pay for your minutes.....How you use them are your choice....If you want to talk to a 1-800 number for 3,000 minutes then thats your choice....we still make money off from it.....You get charged normal whenever minutes when you call a 1-800 number so it doesn't matter.

If I was you then I would get a calling card and call away

The best tool ever to use calling cards on a BlackBerry is BerryDialer.

I use it for IDD calls and it works so well. I save a lot of money every month. This is great!

~via BB (wap.rabroad.com)~the main issue I see with people using a calling card is that after they connect to the number of the calling card and they put the international number they are calling to they hit send a second time which of course opens a new line and dials the number directly causing the normal per minute rate to be charged
