Tam,
Thanks for caring, especially when you have so much going on in your own life! Read my thread "What is this all about....." about my new pain. I'm really a little nervous about it, I have never felt this bad!! I see the doc tomorrow.

Emily..what a sweetie you are....Parker is doing much better. He ended up in the ER twice, very sick!! He went to the peRAB today and he said this is the healthiest he has been in his entire life! Let's hope it continues! Hopefully only about 6 more days to wean the Cyrabalta and then see if I can get by with no more withdrawal!! My pain is so bad right now, I'm not sure I would notice.

Hi all,
My Mom went to the psychiatrist today for her yearly visit since she is on anti-depressant medication. She was telling the doctor about my experience with Cyrabalta. The doctor said that she hates it when other doctors prescribe medications and do not educate themselves fully in their use. She said that all the psychiatrists that she knows would never take a patient off Cyrabalta without prescribing another drug to help with the withdrawal process. She said it is one of the hardest drugs to come off of. As a matter of fact she said it is "cruel" for a patient to come off this drug without being properly supervised by a physician well educated in the use of the drug. She also said that even when I finish all my "pellets", I will probably have 2-3 weeks of symptoms although hopefully not as bad as last week-end. She offered to see me and I may go if I still feel bad after taking all
my "pellets". Not sure what W/C would say about that............
So..when and if you guys come off this drug follow up with a psychiatrist if it proves to be a problem for you. She said the process is really "painfree" if properly managed! So that is actually GOOD NEWS for those of you on the drug, that if you ever need to come off, it CAN be discontinued without the awful symptoms! :D

Thank you, deb, for the important information about discontinuing Cyrabalta. It really is very difficult to stop the use of this medication. I had to stop using Cyrabalta in late January and had some really strong withdraw symptoms. I am very thankful to have "lived" through that!!! The information you gave others will hopefully give them a "fighting chance" to stop the Cyrabalta without harmful withdraws! I didn't know that a doctor should prescribe another medication, in order to help the patient not have harmful withdraw symptoms. Thanks again, deb!

Hey Tam,
I was actually excited to share that info since a lot of people on the board are on Cyrabalta. Whatever it takes for anyone to avoid the withdrawal symptoms! Just remeraber that it is the opinion of one doctor!

Deb

I strongly agree, deb...I am sure that all the information you have given will be much needed on this board. How are you doing with the tapering method? How is your pain today? Have you developed any "new" pain(s)? I am going to tell my physician about what you have told us concerning the Cyrabalta. Patients really need to know what they are getting into, before they even begin the medication. Thanks again, deb...Sincerely, Tam

Thanks for sharing this.

I want to add to the post by saying that on two different occassions I have accidently forgotten to take this medication and it has given me violent headaches and nausea the next day. I did this yesterday because I fell asleep without taking my meRAB and let me tell you it is terrible. At this point, I can't imagine coming off this med -- the thought scares me.

like i mentioned to you before deb, your doc has been doing this the wrong way the whole time you have been tapering.it is almost always best to go onto another med while tapering off another.it just gives your brain something to work with.maybe this well educated doc can actuallyhelp you to finish off that taper and get this crap the heck out of your life for good.no one should have to suffer with this hell for as long as you have.this is just crazy.i wish you luck hon, marcia

Thanks for the info, Deb! Wish you had found this out before you had to go through all this!

Hope you'll be done with it soon. How's your granRABon?

Emily

Yes that is very interesting. Some meRAB just can't be messed around with. Aside from the psychiatrist, its another reason to check with your pharmacist also about side effects, interactions, etc. The doctors don't always know all this info. I guess it also depenRAB on what kind of doc it is and what sorts of meRAB they are familiar with prescribing often.

My Rheumy prescribed cyrabalta for fibromyalgia.I was only able to take it for one week.It made me nauseated, weak and I had the most severe headaches I have ever experienced. After I stopped taking it another week went by before the effects were gone.I had taken lyrica, neurotin and prozac in the past and never went through the "hell" cyrabalta put me through.rab
