Interested in Cricket but have questions

I am looking toward getting cricket here in the newly launched Houston market. However, I have some questions and would like to get some more information. Can you move between diffrent Cricket markets without paying roaming? Also, are text messages to mexico possible? What about to other countries? Anyone have any comments on the quality of service or any problems they might have had with the service.

I had virzion mobile and just changed to cricket ..WOW the service is great. I was scared becuase it is so cheap, but so far the service works great. and the plans.....you can't beat em.

no i think u have to pay for roaming which is 5 bucks per 30 or 50 minutes. Do u travel alot? if so this might not be for u. look into a roaming plan to add to it cause im not too sure just yet.

Yah I travle about once a month to dallas. But the low price more then makes it worth it. I'll just buy travel time when I travel. It's great

I have been a Cricket customer for several years now, and I appreciate their service and low rates.

I have never really had problems with Cricket so long as I paid my bill on time. But for some reason people have a problem with their billing. If you don't pay, you get cut-off immediately, but if you pay, they cut you back on just as immediately (usually in less than a half hour). I can attest to this because one month I actually forgot to pay my bill. :o Once I paid, however, my service was back on without hassle.

I don't travel often, and when I do, there is Travel Time.

Just pay your bill on time and don't lose your phone. But be sure to enroll in the insurance plan: You may regret it if you don't!

Don't know about Syrabian phones, but by far the phone with the best/most features offered by Cricket at this time is the Slider Remix by Kyocera.

Of course, if you prefer style over substance, then Cricket also has the Motorola Razr V3C.

Both phones will set you back about 300 bones.

For slightly less, you can get the Kyocera Xcursion, which has some nice features as well as Bluetooth.

I say go for the Slider Remix. It is the best Cricket phone I have ever owned and the second-best in my collection save my stolen, pimped-out N-Gage.

Text messaging is pretty much the same as on all phones.

You can write Spanish but I don't think it supports Spanish alphabet characters unless you change the language settings.

But like I said, if you want style over substance, get the Razr.

Well, I got the remix, anyone know if there is a way to send a picture you took via bluetooth? I would like to send it to my laptop but I cant find an option for sending it like that. Any ideas?

Unfortunately, you can't send photos by Bluetooth.

The cheapest way to send photos to your PC from your phone is to email yourself from your phone. Just do a picture message and send it to your email address.

The easiest way to send photos to your PC from your phone is to get a Transflash card and either A.) A USB Transflash adapter, or B.) The USB data cable for the Remix. You will need a Transflash card anyway if you plan to use the phone as an MP3 player. Then, you can simply drag and drop files into the folders on the Transflash card.

Thanks for the answer, do you know if theres a way to setup pauses in dialing a nuraber, on my nokia I can set pauses so once the line connects I can dial via a calling card and have it enter the pin automatically

Yes. It's called hard pause. Look it up in the phone's instruction manual.

My manual has a Spanish language section, FYI.

international text = $.10 each incoming is free. this just launched this month. traveltime = $5/month for the first 30 minutes. $.59/minute after that. this option does not stack

i was in houston for the launch. cricket is now calling it a soft launch (after the fact) because virtually no one was ready for it and there was little to no advertising. they will relaunch in a couple weeks. so far the service there is not spectacular. i imagine that not all the towers are up. (I got very spotty reception in the galleria and in hbi where i got excellent reception on my t-mobile)

if you are in houston and are reading this (i hope you have a/c... lol) just know that there is in fact no catch. it is not bs. it really is unlimited for $45 a month. i got so much of that from the people there.
