I have terrible pain that will either start in my lower left back or left side of my hip depending on how I'm standing or laying. The pain, if it starts in my lower left back will shoot down my buttocks and through my thigh ending on the side of my knee. If it starts in my hip it'll continue straight down my leg and end on the side of my knee again. I have no idea what it could possibly be. My background info is this: I'm 17 years old, I live in Missouri and I'm 6 weeks pregnant. I worked at KMart for about 6 months from 12/09-6/10 and was frequently moving and kneeling. Now I work at JPMorgan Chase at a call center where I sit in a chair for 11 hours straight. I come home with this aching pain in my leg which prevents me from being able to stand at times and at night it takes me hours to fall asleep. Last night I put a pillow under my back and it seemed to relieve the pain enough to fall asleep. I usually always have lower back pain but this is getting ridiuclous. My fiance thinks I have a herniated disk.
Also, when I was in middle school and they did those group fitness tests, I was diagnosed with slight scoliosis. I'm not sure if that'll help or make any difference.
Thank you to whoever takes the time to read this and reply with advice. Anything will help.
You may have SI Joint dysfunction as well as a herniated disc. Pregnancy and SI joint problems are common. I have SI jiont Dysfunction and a few disc problems. The hip pain is the worst when the SI jiont is involved
Did you go to the doctor? That should be your first course of action. With a baby on the way, you need to get this figured out asap. I can speak from personal experience that it can just get horribly worse with time, and having things being compressed and whatnot from the baby as it grows most likely will not be helping the situation. This may be one of those scenarios where you do a little bit now and get it taken care of, or end up doing a lot later and regretting it.
Many times you can tell it's SI Joint pain and not pain from something else when: you've been lying down, then get up and walk....and UGH!! the PAIN!!!-over the hip and buttock area. Sometimes it would hit me when getting up from a sitting position too. These symptoms are common for SI Joint Disorders. A shot of Prolotherapy (sugar water) given to me by my PM doctor helped me a lot...janiee
Yeah I went to the doctor yesterday. They said I was perfectly healthy. They did an ultrasound on my kidneys which were fine as well as my uterus to look for cists or bleeding. All they did was prescribe me Hydrocodone for the pain. Which, in my opinion, would not be something I'd consider safe to take because of the baby. So no luck there.
It sounRAB like sciatica to me. There is a nerve in your buttocks when damaged can cause the type of pain you are describing and I do not think there is a pain killer out there aside from morphine that could touch it. Morphine does not cross the placenta if memory serves me right. Try standing up and shifting positions often and that might help. Keep active if you can. Sincerely, searchin
Yes you are right about pain I can't walk far at all I have both SI joint and herniated disc. Most likely happened at the same time. Walking gets the nerve involved in my spine and the muscle in my butt feels like it pulls the nerve too
