I have wanted to be an archaeologist ever since I can remember, and now it's time to choose what undergraduate program I'll be attending. But I'm not sure if I should go to an institute or university. An institute seems more appealing because I'm pretty much surrounded by nothing but archaeology/anthropology studies. But, that being said, I'm not sure that an institute holds the scholarly esteem of a university. I'm pretty much deciding between the University of Oklahoma or a couple of different institutes, including Mercyhurst Archaeological Institute. Any help with this decision would be great.
