Instead of never discussing Hitler, couldn't we learn something from him?

So that what he did NEVER happens again??

“Make the lie big, make it simple, keep saying it, and eventually they will believe it”

“All propaganda has to be popular and has to accommodate itself to the comprehension of the least intelligent of those whom it seeks to reach.”

“He alone, who owns the youth, gains the future.”

“"The man who has no sense of history, is like a man who has no ears or eyes"”

-Adolf Hitler
That youth quote was saying INDOCTRINATE them early, and they're yours for life.
mike hawk...........(sigh)

I think that yes, we should be looking at the history of our own country and other countries as well. In particular Countries that did suffer greatly by any means.

People are to caught up in defending what they thought they were getting, and defending against the former administration - they are no longer able to use common sense and simple logic.

We must both learn from the past as well as understand that evil does exist and lives in the far reaching corner of every mind that does not recognize it nor is willing to fight it.

Some people have learned from hitler. Take republicans for example they have completely smear the image of hispanic immigrants. You never hear any positive being said about hispanics on the fox news channel. Its according to them we are communist, criminals, illegal, we are making america too brown. We don't assimilate. Florida is a third world country because it is full of hispanics. We are unpatriotic and are all on welfare. We are taking their Jobs. And are a threat to the american culture and way of life.

Hitler fed a lot of propaganda like this to Germans about our Jewish brothers and sisters to put Germans against them. The only reason it isn't having the same level of effect here is because alot of americans have learned from history and fear the outcome.

These statements could be said about the propaganda being spread by either side. Rush and Hannity cater to the lowest common denominator. They pander to those who would rather watch someone take pot shots at politicians from a distance, than discuss the finer points of the policies themselves.

“He alone, who owns the youth, gains the future.”

This is not a new concept, but it's one Republicans should learn from. For too long, they catered to the elderly, depending on the apathy of the youth. Now, the youth have gotten more involved in politics than ever, and if Republicans can't appeal to some of them, it's going to be an uphill struggle to get anyone elected.

“"The man who has no sense of history, is like a man who has no
ears or eyes"”

I'm not sure what you mean specifically here, but the quote could apply to the Bush administration. I doubt we will see a politician of either party burn bridges on his way out, the way that Bush did. I think he is far more responsible for getting Obama elected than Obama himself.

hitler had potential. he wanted to go to art school, but the rejected him. Its all the art college board that forced him to ruin europe in the 30's-40's.

He did have a good intention, he was just sick in the head and everything spiraled out of control.

Yes we could learn. Without learning about the past, we are doomed too repeat it.

Boy, you're quick! I think we have been learning from him and his pals. I hope I get this in before this is deleted again.

Obama has and has learned well . It is almost as if he has cloned his career on the man . If he can do then we certainly should be able to do it , but who would want to excepts someone with an agenda to destroy American and Americans and feed their huge ego.

Yup... so the Neocons are making the lie that they are the party of the working man and morality... quite a big lie, and has worked okay.. their propaganda is very simple and based on the Bible and "morality" and not a lot of nuanced thought....

and the Democrats have the heart of the youth, showing we're the party of the future (a member of this said youth, myself)

Glad we both have a sense of history and how it spells doom for the GOP :)

That's why we have history classes in schools. To teach kids that there is more than what is going on right now in their lives and that learning from history can help up determine what NOT to do in the future.

Yes Yes Yes!
"Those who do NOT learn from History and chose to Ignore it, are destine to Repeat History.

Example;
Deregulation in the 1920's lead to the crash of 1929 (under Republican rule) that didn't stop until after FDR took office.
Republicans pushed through the Re-Deregulated Business and Industry starting with Reagan. And here we are again

YES.. Hitler was brilliant in his thoughts about how to control populations and his political ideals. I reccommend reading Mein Kampf. Despite all his ravings about the jews and marxists of europe, he actually has some interesting psychological ideas in there

It depends on what you learn. The Bush administration and the right-wing propagandists have used Goebbels playbook, sometimes almost word for word. Sometimes, people learn the wrong things.
